DIY lamp from an old scanner
In stocks, many people who worked with Windows 95 still have different peripherals, which were then considered advanced. For example, a Mustek 6000p scanner in a large light plastic case. In itself, it is not valuable even for its age, but it can be suitable for some crafts.
Having disassembled the scanner, get two large-sized printed circuit boards, saturated with radio components, a scanning carriage with a illuminator. The latter is represented by a conventional cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL). Such products are today in the backlight LCD-matrices.
Having examined the board from the carriage, they notice a high-voltage inverter in its left part. Nearby is an integrated stabilizer that allows you to track the paths that lead to the converter power.
At the input of the stabilizer, the voltage is about 14 V. It is not enough to light the lamp with various tricks. Assuming that everything can be in the key on the basis of a noticeable transistor, which starts the lamp, just close the resistor, which is connected to the base of the transistor with a "plus" power. As a result, they get what they want - the lamp lights up.
All of the above allows you to remove everything unnecessary on the board and requires soldering a resistor jumper between the marked contacts. More pins are added to which the printer’s native power connector will be connected. The result - get a neat inverter board. It does not hurt to check everything done again and make sure that the lamp lights up.
The lamp made by processing the details of an old scanner does not differ in the power of the light flux. It is impossible for them to efficiently illuminate the workplace. But the lamp is well suited for lighting, for example, inside the box.
The whole circuit requires a body for a good look. It fits perfectly inside any old computer mouse. The switch is arranged from a reed switch, which has normally closed contacts. You can certainly regret that the buttons remaining from the mouse turned out to be idle, without any functional load.
The lamp made, the mouse housing is placed inside the box, for example, from the bottom of its upper shelf. Do this with double-sided tape. Using the same adhesive tape, the door is equipped with a magnet that will turn on / off the lamp when it is opened / closed.
